On Wednesday, President-select Donald Trump chose the Florida lawmaker to guide the department. Hours later, Gaetz resigned from the Home of Representatives, just two days ahead of the chamber’s Ethics Committee was set to vote on whether or not to unlock what was described as a “extremely harmful” document summarizing the panel’s investigation into Gaetz. Gaetz was also investigated with the aid of the Division of Justice, which declined to bring prices. He denies wrongdoing.

On Friday’s CNN NewsNight, host Abby Phillip requested Dent to determine Gaetz’s possibilities.

“You have to marvel, is there anything else that might tank Trump’s nominees on this setting?” she stated. “They’ve received a sexy clear majority in the Senate during which I feel many of the senators seem beautiful satisfied to just let Trump do no matter.”

“Smartly, I would say within the case of Matt Gaetz, I wager they’re gonna have to withdraw his nomination,” Dent spoke back. “I feel that’s a bridge too some distance.”

He went on to claim that congressional Republicans “dislike” Gaetz and that “he’s received an issue.”

“That ethics file that’s looming?” Dent persisted. “There’s a superb opportunity that might come out as well. And those reports should not beautiful. I was chairman of that committee, and I will tell you don’t resign from Congress if that file’s gonna be clean. It’s now not gonna be smooth. And there can be a referral in there, too, to the Division of Justice. That happens on occasion, plus sanctions of all sorts.”

At least two Republican senators have publicly signaled their opposition to Gaetz’s nomination.
