Supporters at a rally for Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz broke out into “we’re not eating cats” chants to troll a conspiracy idea promoted by using former President Donald Trump at Tuesday’s debate.
Throughout a solo consult with to Grand Rapids, Michigan, Walz made reference to Trump saying “they’re consuming the cats” on the debate and the audience spoke back by means of chanting, “we’re now not eating cats.” The chant was once similar to how supporters had been chanting, “we’re no longer going again.”
“Ah, Michigan, we adore you,” Walz told the gang.

Trump’s comment used to be in response to a false story being promoted by his campaign claiming that Haitian immigrants in Ohio were kidnapping and consuming pets.
“In Springfield, they’re consuming the canines. The people who came in, they’re consuming the cats. They’re eating the pets of the those that are living there. And that is what’s going down in our usa. And it’s a disgrace,” Trump said.
The moment led to a reality test with the aid of debate co-moderator David Muir, who said ABC Information had contacted town manager in Springfield, Ohio and found not credible proof of cats and canine being kidnapped and eaten.
Walz in Michigan went on to touch on the up to date endorsement from “fellow cat owner” Taylor Swift.
“You mess with cat folks, and you are going to to find out, you will in finding out, and so they did,” Walz mentioned.
The Democrat mockingly referred to as it a “beautiful technique selecting on the cat people.”
Swift talked about herself as a “childless cat lady” in her endorsement submit, relating to a line deployed Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance.
