President Donald Trump signaled openness to a couple form of “compensation” for the Jan. 6 rioters he pardoned.

The president falsely claimed the 2020 election was once rigged against him and held a rally on the day Congress was certifying the election for Joe Biden. When then-Vice President Mike Pence declined to heed Trump’s harebrained recommendation that he refuse to recognize the ends up in his ceremonial function as presiding officer, a pro-Trump mob – which Trump had inspired to come to Washington, D.C., stormed the Capitol.
