President Donald Trump declared that a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine was on “not off course” after finishing a “very good telephone call” with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday.

“Just completed an excellent telephone call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine. It lasted roughly one hour. So Much of the dialogue was in response to the call made yesterday with President [Vladimir] Putin so as to align each Russia and Ukraine on the subject of their requests and needs,” wrote Trump on Actuality Social. “We are very much on the right track, and I will ask Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and National Safety marketing Consultant Michael Waltz, to offer an accurate description of the factors mentioned. That Remark will likely be put out quickly.”

Trump’s hopeful statement followed a dialog he had with Putin on Tuesday, which he summed up like this:

My phone dialog today with President Putin of Russia used to be a very good and productive one. We agreed to a right away Ceasefire on all Vitality and Infrastructure, with an figuring out that we will be able to be working speedy to have a Complete Ceasefire and, in some way, an END to this very horrible Struggle between Russia and Ukraine. This War would have never began if I had been President! Many components of a Contract for Peace were mentioned, including the fact that hundreds of infantrymen are being killed, and both President Putin and President Zelenskyy want to see it conclusion. That process is now in full force and effect, and we will be able to, hopefully, for the sake of Humanity, get the job finished!

Regardless of Trump’s insistence that Ukraine’s leadership has been the executive quandary to peace, it has already agreed to the “Complete Ceasefire” proposal crafted through the United States, while Putin has now not.
