President Donald Trump pointedly declined to call Vice President JD Vance as his most well-liked successor all over a take a seat down with Fox News’ Bret Baier.

In a clip from his interview with the president that aired Monday afternoon on Fox, Baier requested “Do you view Vice President JD Vance as your successor, the Republican nominee in 2028?”

“No, however he’s very capable,” answered Trump decisively. “I mean, I don’t assume that it, you realize, I think you’ve got a good number of very able individuals. To this point, I think he’s doing an out of this world job. It’s too early, we’re just starting.”

“But by the point you get to the midterms, he’s going to be on the lookout for an endorsement,” observed Baier.

Trump then deflected through submitting that “lots of people have mentioned that this has been the best opening almost three weeks in the historical past of the presidency.”

On Monday, Baier weighed in on the answer:

I feel it used to be a bit stunning when he mentioned no, you know, I wasn’t expecting that. But, you realize, following up, it is you already know, whenever you get to the midterm, it begins, you start to think about 2028. And clearly, one would think JD Vance goes to be seeking to position for that position. But evidently, the president is just not ready to talk about that, or think about it, and says that there are other people that may get in the mix.
