Former President Donald Trump railed in opposition to his Vice President Mike Pence Thursday over a Home invoice that will prevent the Senate’s presiding officer from blocking off election outcomes.
Trump cited the passage of the invoice as proof Pence may have blocked the results of the 2020 election, which he has spent virtually two years claiming was stolen from him.
The Presidential Election Reform Act seeks to amend title three of the U.S. Code because it pertains to reforming “the process for the counting of electoral votes, and for different purposes.”
The invoice passed in the Home 229-203, with nine Republicans voting in favor of it. None might be in the Home next year after they either misplaced their primaries or chose retirement.
On Actuality Social, Trump claimed the invoice proves Pence can have chosen to block electors from states he contended cheated.
“The Home just passed a Bill which prohibits the Vice President from doing what all the ‘nice’ Democrat & RINO criminal scholars stated he couldn’t do, ‘underneath any situations,’ concerning sending election results back to State Legislatures,” Trump wrote. He added:
If the V.P. couldn’t do it, then why are they passing law saying he can’t do it. BECAUSE HE COULD HAVE DONE IT, and should have, in line with huge scale fraudulent election outcomes. Would have been a different consequence. REPUBLICAN SENATORS SHOULD VOTE NO!
Pence has denied he had the flexibility to dam certain slates of electors, calling Trump “fallacious.”
The invoice cites the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, and states:
The Electoral Depend Act of 1887 could be amended to prevent other future illegal efforts to overturn Presidential elections and to verify future peaceable transfers of Presidential energy.
The reforms contained on this Act are fully consistent with States’ constitutional authority vested by Article II to appoint electors; the reforms herein don’t limit the mode through which States lawfully appoint their respective electors or resolve related contests or controversies, but instead ensure that these appointments, and the votes cast by way of these electors, are duly transmitted to Congress.
