Tucker Carlson laughed maniacally throughout an interview with Elon Musk when discussing the thousands of workers the Twitter CEO has laid off.
Musk, who become CEO after buying the company in October, has let go of about 5,500 staff from the San Francisco-based totally firm
“What percentage of your group of workers did you fireplace at Twitter?” Carlson asked. “Some of the great industry tales of the year?”
“I think we’re about 20% of the unique size,” Musk spoke back,
“So eighty% left?” Carlson mentioned.
“Yes,” Musk answered, pointing out that “lots of people voluntarily” left.
“Eighty %?” Carlson mentioned. “That’s a lot.”
“Sure, I mean, if you happen to’re not seeking to run some kind of glorified activist group with–and also you don’t care that so much about censorship, then that you can really let go of lots of people, it turns out,” Musk mentioned.
Carlson spoke back by way of cackling.
“I had dinner with someone who runs a massive company not too long ago,” the Fox News host mentioned. “He mentioned, ‘I’m actually impressed by Elon.’ And I said, ‘The free speech stuff?’ He goes, ‘No, the firing the group of workers stuff!’”
The host laughed again.
Musk said Twitter merely had too many staff.
“But I believe we simply had a state of affairs at Twitter where it was absurdly overstaffed,” he told Carlson. “What does it actually take to operate Twitter? You recognize, most of what we’re talking about here’s a group text at scale. Like, how many people are really needed for that?”
Musk bought Twitter by means of claiming he would fix “free speech” to the platform and has accused previous ownership of “censorship.” He has been hailed by using right-wingers who claim the company used to be censoring conservatives.
