The University of Iowa has announced a plan to close the Gender, Ladies’s, and Sexuality Research department and end the Social Justice main by using mid-2025, as DEI initiatives during the state are being scaled again.

Ahead of the closure used to be announced, Iowa’s state board of regents licensed recommendations to cut back funding for DEI initiatives in Iowa. The university plans to switch the division with a brand new main in Social and Cultural Analysis.
