Washington Submit columnist Jennifer Rubin attacked the Supreme Courtroom as a “rogue institution” throughout a Saturday interview on MSNBC.
Rubin joined host Ali Velshi for a discussion over the weekend to discuss the latest controversy involving Supreme Courtroom Justice Samuel Alito striking an upside-down U.S. flag over his home in January 2021. The flag when upside is believed to be connected to dire distress and a logo of protest.
In fact, some critics of Alito have seen the striking of the flag as a way of supporting former President Donald Trump’s false declare of fraud in the 2020 election. Other justices akin to Clarence Thomas additionally face scrutiny concerning his wife’s sympathy for the January sixth Capitol rioters.
Rubin cited that these ethics concerns should stop Alito and Clarence for overseeing Trump’s immunity attraction.
Yeah I was once just going to say that part of the problem is the Supreme Court bar. They must be making motions to recuse these people, those people who were on the improper facet of six, three selections. Well, these guys have sat on the court docket will have to be inquiring for a rehearing. Judges who who didn’t abide via their oath, who have it seems that repudiated the Structure, determined these instances. So the Supreme Courtroom bar has to get into this. And I may also make some extent that the person who broke this story, Jodi Kantor, is a wonderful investigative reporter. She is not the, quote, court docket reporter. The issue is that the court docket journalists don’t check out and deal with the court docket like a regular beat. They don’t do investigative work. They don’t press for answers. They do not deal with them seriously. They’re so in awe of their subject matter that they act merely like the clicking office of the court. So more Jodi Kantor. The press coverage of the courtroom has to change, and I feel the bar that goes to the court has to start to position force on them as neatly. There’s a complicity and a, type of silence, of normality that’s received to finish. This is a rogue institution that has long gone off the rails.
