Ryan Ferguson was once convicted for homicide in 2005 and used to be to serve a 40-yr sentence, but final week the Western District appeals court overturned his sentence, ruling he received an unfair trial. The trial became specifically neatly-recognized for Charles Erickson, Ferguson’s good friend, testifying that he had desires in which he and Ferguson had killed Columbia Tribune sports editor Kent Heitholt in 2001.

Erickson, then again, recanted that testimony final yr, and tonight Ferguson was once released from prison, after the appeals courtroom dominated that prosecutors “withheld key evidence” throughout his trial. His household is expected to deliver a press conference tonight on the overturned conviction.
