Shutdown or not, the federal government must step up its movements on chemical-plant security, said former Environmental Safety Agency Administrator Christine Todd Whitman on a Friday press name. “We want to have some action on a federal stage,” Whitman mentioned, announcing chemical security has been an “evident issue” considering 11th of September, further highlighted through the April fertilizer-plant explosion in West, Texas. “It’s time to take action,” she said. “This is clearly something that most people make stronger.” President Obama issued a directive in August prompting businesses to work on improving chemical-plant security, however Whitman said the shutdown has already pushed back some conferences associated to the order and could delay other deadlines.
