Whoopi Goldberg apologized on Monday evening after she claimed past within the day on The View that the Holocaust used to be “not about race.”

During a section by which the exhibit’s panelists mentioned a Tennessee school board’s removal of the Holocaust photo novel Maus from its eighth-grade curriculum, Sunny Hostin accused participants of the board of “banning discussions about race.”

Co-host Pleasure Behar agreed, while Goldberg shared a ordinary take.

Goldberg stated, “In case you’re going to do that, then let’s be fair about it because the Holocaust isn’t about race.”

“No, it’s not about race,” Golberg introduced after some backward and forward. “It’s now not about race. It’s about man’s inhumanity to man. That’s what it’s about.”

Goldberg doubled down after some pushback.

“These are two White Teams of individuals,” she claimed. “Let’s discuss it for what it is, it’s how folks treat each and every different. That’s the problem. It doesn’t matter if you are Black or White, because Black, White, Jews, Italians, every person eats every different.”

Following a backlash on-line, Goldberg issued an apology from her Twitter account on Monday evening:

On as of late’s express, I stated the Holocaust “will not be about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man.” I will have to have stated it is about both. As Jonathan Greenblatt from the Anti-Defamation League shared, “The Holocaust used to be concerning the Nazi’s [sic] systematic annihilation of the Jewish individuals — who they deemed to be an inferior race.” I stand corrected.

The Jewish folks world wide have always had my enhance and on the way to by no means waiver [sic]. I’m sorry for the hurt I’ve caused.

Goldberg’s preliminary remark used to be characterized via some on Twitter as insensitive and ignorant.

Whoopi Goldberg explaining that the Holocaust wasn’t about race as a result of these had been “two groups of white folks” isn’t just insipid, it’s insidious. It’s downplaying the minority standing of Jews with the intention to uphold bullshit intersectional arguments that justify anti-Semitism lately.
